Here are some of my current favorite books:
For babies and toddlers, I like these board books: Tails (complete with fuzzy and furry tails, of course), this version of Rapunzel with beautiful Indian illustrations, and the cutest story about a little green pea who hates sweets. This is a great, important list of children’s books by Indigenous authors. And it’s a few steps above a board book, but I recently fell in love with this edition of Alice in Wonderland, featuring enchanting illustrations from artist Yayoi Kusama. YA & Middle Grade recs coming soon!
I also run a small book club at Eater; these is what we read in 2018.
Here are some of my favorite local, independent bookstores across the United States: Avid Bookshop (Athens, GA), Books Are Magic (South Brooklyn, NY), Greenlight (North Brooklyn, NY), Powell’s (Portland, OR), City Lights (SF, CA), Collected Works (Santa Fe, NM), After-Words (Chicago, IL), Battery Park Book Exchange (Asheville, NC), BookPeople (Austin, TX), Blue Bicycle Books (Charleston, SC). On my book bucket list? Parnassus (Nashville, TN), For Keeps (Atlanta, GA), and this charming Scotland store, The Open Book.
